"Around The Block" Gift Box

For the November Stamp of the Month "Around The Block", I found this adorable gift box on another consultant's website and just HAD to make one myself! It's the perfect size for a stack of cookies, or an assortment of homemade licorice caramels...oh I can't wait to make those!

You could even use this cute little house as a decoration on your tree or around your house. For your tree, use an xacto knife and cut out the window panes put vellum in as the windows and prop on your tree with a light and see the house windows glow! Too too cute!!

Really, the possibilities are endless!!!!

My latest paint class project. A Pumpkin just in time for the Fall/Thanksgiving season, Hooray!

I bought two of the door hanger pegs for my door and I switch them out for the seasons. Now that it's fall/winter It's switched out to the leaf. Pretty darn cool if you ask me!

Ode to JOY

What a fun project this one was!

I actually had made this JOY once before, about 3 years ago. I remember modge podging it and designing it for a super saturday for my ward. Well, after the S.S. Was all said and done, I really HATED what I did with my JOY. So, I took it with me to paint class and re-did it. I'm SO much happier with it now! I feel like I can be proud to show it off and not keep it stuffed away in a box like it was doing previously! Oh Happy Day!

I've had this set of BELIEVE blocks (about a foot tall each letter...no kidding) sitting around for probably the last 3 years completely unfinished. I know. Silly. Well, this last month I decided to take the whole set with me to paint class and get them done once and for all! Here's how they turned out! I'm sooooo excited at how completely AWESOME they look!!!

Summer Decorations

I FINALLY got around to finding my summer decorations for my kitchen in the boxes in our garage...just in time for Fall to start. Oh boy!

This next year...I'm going to set a New Year's Resolution to be more punctual in every aspect of my life, including updating my decor!

You know what's funny about these decorations!?

I absolutely HATE to eat watermelons.
I absolutely LOVE to decorate with them for the summer, though!
Go figure!

Name on the Wall

I had Allison's name up on her wall in our last place, and really wanted to do the same thing in this house, too. I finally, got his name finished and hung. I think it turned out super super cute. I just wish I had paid attention to the temperature outside (I was doing a spray glossy protective coating) so the paper wouldn't have bubbled from the heat. Oh well. If it really starts to grate on me, then I'll fix it. I'm just glad to have it done and up.

One more project down, a million more to go. Next in this room...curtains! I've got all the supplies and materials. I just need to sit down and DO IT!

Re-Covered Chairs

We bought our kitchen table & Chairs from someone on Craig's list for $30! It was a great deal, and I always planned on re-upholstering them, bought a FABRIC that I wanted to do it in, then changed my mind. I didn't want fabric anymore...look at how hard this one was to keep clean! Seriously! So, That fabric you'll see repurposed in my curtains for my kitchen instead when I can get around to getting them done.

I ended up going back to JoAnn's and getting this faux-leather material to cover the seat cushions in. I'm LOVING it and especially the feature of being totally and completely WIPEABLE!!!! Doesn't it just make those nasty looking chairs look almost 100% better!?! I'm seriously so happy with the result! Now to finish the table!!

Little by little we're making the changes we want to make this house our own! I can't wait to show you more as we go!

Watermelon Door

My latest creation from Paint Class. Ick, I know the door looks dusty. It is. We have so much construction going on around our house that it's practically impossible to keep our door and anything around somewhat clean. I'll be glad when it's all done and we can get back to normal!

I made a "oops" with the stain on the flower, so I'm looking for a cute metal bee to attach to it and cover it up. I just haven't had time to go looking. If you happen to notice one when you're out and about, PLEASE let me know! I would be forever in your debt!!!

Tinkerin' Away

July swap...here I come!

Whew! It's August and I just finished this one and made everyone late.

Life has just been way too cHaOtIc, stressful, full, etc. This is actually what my workshops will be completing in August, amongst other cards, too. Pretty exciting!

This layout was created with my son in mind. He just turned 2 the end of July and is definitely ALL BOY! I actually can't wait to get photos on this page to showcase his big boy cutness in action!

Animal Cookies

I have a problem.

When I create a layout or card or anything crafty I follow this process:

1. Come up with design and create "draft".

2. Let craft "draft" sit a while...sometimes weeks.

3. Look at craft again and come up with better ideas or ways to "tweak" it so it looks more complete and finished.

I bet you're thinking that my projects can take quite a while to really complete. My response is, "you better believe it!" It definitely takes me a while to get where I'm happy with it.

I know, it's a sad life I lead, but I'm just kinda weird in that way.

This layout I created for my June 2009 swap. I tend to create the layouts THEN put pictures on them a year later. Twisted...YES. I have probably 50+ layouts in my box just ready for photos for whenever I get around to them. If only I had the time!

Baby Shower Invite

I designed this invitation for my Sister's baby shower I was corrdinating. I think it turned out pretty well. My original idea was going to be bigger and grander than this one turned out, but that's okay. When life gets stressful, you make do and readjust as needed. I still think it worked.

Door Decoration anyone?

My friend Jessica and her sister Jill started a painting class where you can sign up for a wood project and come on a specific date and complete your project. These are three of the door designs I've completed. I have so many more projects I'll post pictures of later.

One of my most favorite new techniques they've taught is the ribbon layering. I LOVE LOVE LOVE it! I've added this element to all my present wrappings. (I collect ribbon, btw)

Giant snowflake...No kidding it's about 1 1/2 feet wide/tall!
Christmas stocking. (About 2 1/2 feet long)
Candy Corn for Halloween. Again, another GIANT door hanging.
I chose this project because I LOVE the look of candy corn, but absolutely HATE their taste, so no temptations there!

I found a new stamp set I'm totally and completely IN LOVE with! The princess and the frog are ADORABLE and Allie was having so much fun playing with them, too!

The two princess and the frog cards below used

a fun technique called waterbrushing/blending pen.

On this one, I used a fun new technique called "Kissing". Very cool!

Christmas Cards 2008

Here's the card I'll probably be doing for my own Christmas cards this year, but an example of what one of the Christmas cards COULD look like for your next project. I'll have more options in about a week. I will post those ideas, give you a date and all the info you'll need for our next workshop, though you can tenatively plan for Saturday, NOVEMBER 22nd!
